Day 2

Wow, what a first day with Bela. After the tears stopped, she went into silence mode. She started to run a fever and her ear infection came back all on the first day! Luckily the orphanage gave us some meds for her and she was able to get a full 11 hours of sleep last night. Ryan and I are used to Lucky sleeping with us, but a kicking, turning and squeeming 2 year old is a different story. I managed to get sleep (Resh) but Ryan really didnt sleep. We got Bela up and bathed her - she is definintely not used to American style tubs. She usually gets bathed with a bucket so that will take some getting used to. She had a hearty breakfast and no fever, which is great. We took her out for the day to visit a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and to get her some souveniers for when she is older. She walked around and would not let go of Ryan - she seems to be very attached to him right now. After the museum, Bela made her first visit to the mall. While the mall here is no South Coast plaza, it is nice enough that we were able to get some shoes that actually fit her. She had a traditional Indian lunch and would only let Ryan feed her - the good news is that Ryan might lose some weight as he doesn't seem to have time to eat himself :) Bela is now napping at our hotel room at the Westin. We have to take her to a final court appearance where the judge can meet us. After that, on to one of the holiest temples in India - my mom wants to bless Bela there. Whew!! Bela is a very cute, quiet and charming little girl. The tears have stopped and now we're just waiting until she opens up and says a few words to us. Bye for now - on to Delhi tomorrow to get her Visa to come home!
